Diagram ref no 1
Designed as an alternative to the Genuine Porsche part, it helps regulate gearbox oil temperature, protecting internal transmission components against excessive heat.
What Does It Do?
The heat exchanger transfers heat away from the PDK transmission oil, helping keep the gearbox within its intended operating temperature range.
By controlling oil temperature, it supports consistent hydraulic operation, clutch engagement and gear changes.
Why Is It Important?
PDK transmissions generate heat during driving, particularly under heavy loads or sustained performance use.
A faulty heat exchanger can contribute to:
- Excessive gearbox oil temperatures
- Reduced transmission cooling efficiency
- Irregular gear changes
- Transmission warning messages
- Premature wear of internal components
Why Does It Fail?
Common causes include:
- Internal corrosion or deterioration
- Blocked oil or coolant passages
- Damaged seals or connections
- External impact damage
- Internal leakage between fluid circuits
When Should It Be Replaced?
Replace the heat exchanger if it develops leaks, becomes blocked or can no longer regulate transmission oil temperature effectively.
It should also be inspected if gearbox overheating or unexplained fluid contamination is detected.
Checks & Installation
Inspect the oil and coolant connections, seals and surrounding pipework before installation.
Use the correct Porsche-approved transmission fluid and coolant. Follow the specified filling and bleeding procedures.
Professional installation by a Porsche transmission specialist is recommended.
