Diagram Ref No 5
Designed to deliver precisely controlled quantities of fuel directly into the combustion chamber, it helps maintain efficient combustion, smooth engine operation and consistent power delivery.
An OE Match alternative to the Genuine Porsche injector, it provides a replacement option for restoring correct fuel injection performance.
What Does the High Pressure Fuel Injector Do?
The injector delivers a precisely measured spray of petrol directly into the combustion chamber.
Working with the high-pressure fuel pump and engine management system, it controls fuel delivery during idling, acceleration and high engine loads.
Accurate injection is essential for maintaining engine performance, fuel efficiency and smooth combustion.
Why Do High Pressure Fuel Injectors Fail?
Fuel injectors operate under extreme pressures and temperatures, making them susceptible to wear and contamination.
Common causes include:
- Carbon deposits restricting injector nozzles.
- Contaminated petrol damaging internal components.
- Wear of injector valves and sealing surfaces.
- Electrical faults affecting injector operation.
- Prolonged exposure to high temperatures and engine vibration.
A failing injector can cause uneven fuel delivery, rough running, engine misfires and reduced performance.
When Should the Injector Be Replaced?
Replacement is recommended when an injector is diagnosed as faulty, leaking or unable to deliver the correct fuel quantity.
Common warning signs include:
- Rough idling or engine misfires.
- Hesitation or loss of power during acceleration.
- Increased fuel consumption.
- Difficult starting.
- Engine management warning light.
- Fuel mixture or cylinder misfire fault codes.
- Irregular engine operation under load.
A defective injector can cause incorrect combustion and potentially damage the engine or catalytic converter if left unresolved.
Checks and Diagnosis
Before replacing the injector, check for stored engine fault codes, inspect fuel rail pressure and identify any cylinder-specific misfires.
Injector electrical connections, fuel delivery and leakage should also be checked to confirm the fault.
High-pressure fuel systems require specialist installation procedures. Associated seals and mounting components should be replaced where specified by Porsche.
