What This Product Does
The mount connects the gearbox to its supporting structure, holding the transmission in position while damping vibration and allowing controlled movement under load. It works with the other powertrain mounts to maintain drivetrain alignment.
Functions
- Supports the transmission at its mounting point.
- Limits unwanted gearbox movement during changes in load.
- Isolates drivetrain vibration from the vehicle structure.
- Helps maintain alignment of connected drivetrain components.
Technical Details
- Part number: 98137504902.
- Brand: OE Match.
- Hydraulic, non-dynamic gearbox mounting.
- Internal diagram application code: PR:-140.
- Diagram quantity: two mounts per vehicle; this identifies the assembly requirement, not a supplied pair.
- Diagram applications include 981 Boxster / Boxster S 2012–16, 981C Cayman / Cayman S 2014–16 and 981C Cayman GT4 2016.
Symptoms of Fault
- A knock or thud as drive is taken up or released.
- More vibration felt inside the cabin.
- Excessive powertrain movement or an unsettled gearshift feel.
- Visible cracking, sagging or collapse of the mount.
- Fluid seepage from a deteriorated hydraulic mounting.
Why Replacement Matters
A worn mounting may no longer support the gearbox or damp movement as intended. Renewing a confirmed faulty mount addresses that loss of support and helps limit movement that can load adjacent connections. Inspect the remaining mounts, brackets and fasteners during the repair, rather than assuming every vibration or shifting concern originates here. OE Match focuses on replacement components for Porsche applications, with specification and fitment assessment forming part of its development process.
FAQs
- Is this the dynamic PADM version?
No. The supplied application specifies vehicles without dynamic engine mounting. - Will replacement resolve grinding during shifts?
Not necessarily. Clutch, linkage or internal transmission wear can cause similar complaints and needs separate diagnosis. - Should both gearbox mounts be inspected?
Yes. The diagrams show two mounting positions, so assess both mounts and their supporting hardware when planning the repair.
