An OE Match rotor arm designed for the ignition distributor, responsible for directing high-voltage current to the correct spark plug in Porsche 911 SC and 930 Turbo models. Installed within the distributor, the rotor arm rotates in sync with the engine, transferring high-voltage current from the ignition coil to each spark plug terminal in the correct firing order.
Fits:
Porsche 911 all Turbos 3.0L / 3.3L and 911 3.0L without KAT 1975-89
The "rotor" head is attached to the top of the distributor shaft which is driven by a gear on the engine's camshaft and thus synchronized to it. This rotor is pressed against a carbon brush on the center terminal of the distributor cap which connects to the ignition coil either through the top and wired directly to the coil in HEI systems, or via the centre terminal in points ignition systems and remotely connected to the coil.
The rotor is constructed such that the centre tab is electrically connected to its outer edge so that voltage coming in to the centre post travels through the carbon point to the outer edge of the rotor. As the camshaft rotates, the rotor spins and its outer edge passes each of the internal plug terminals to fire each spark plug.

OEMatch Rotor Arms / Point Sets — Fit, Function, Confidence
Rotor arms and contact point sets are essential items for classic Porsche ignition systems, used across air-cooled and early water-cooled models. OEMatch Rotor Arms / Point Sets components are compatible replacements engineered to original-spec dimensions and tolerances — a practical option when genuine or OEM parts are unavailable. They restore dependable spark distribution and timing in vehicles retaining mechanical distributor ignition.
Available Types
- Individual rotor arms
- Contact point sets and rubbing blocks
- Distributor service kits including springs and condensers
Understanding OEMatch Rotor Arms / Point Sets
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts are made by the same company that produced your Porsche’s original rotor arms / point sets. OE (Original Equipment) refers to parts matching original specifications for the rotor arms / point sets and may be supplied by alternative manufacturers. Aftermarket parts offer alternative options, sometimes with enhanced features or better value. OEMatch supplies non-OEM rotor arms / point sets engineered as direct-fit alternatives to OEM parts, made to original-spec dimensions and tolerances for Porsche models. Rotor arms transfer the high-voltage output from the ignition coil to each spark plug terminal as the distributor rotor turns. Contact points open and close the primary circuit at precise intervals to trigger coil discharge and set ignition timing. Together they control firing order and timing in traditional distributor systems. OEMatch catalogues a wide selection for classic Porsche applications, covering common service items and maintenance kits for 911, 912, 914, 924 and 928 engines.
Benefits Include
- Restored starting reliability and consistent idle
- Improved ignition timing stability and throttle response
- Reduced misfires and smoother running under load
Why Rotor Arms / Point Sets Wear and Fail
- Contact wear or pitting from electrical arcing
- Carbon buildup on rubbing faces reducing conduction
- Rotor arm erosion, cracking or surface damage from high voltage or vibration
- Mechanical fatigue and wear from age and mileage
- Corrosion or contamination within the distributor housing
The Importance of Replacing with OEMatch Rotor Arms / Point Sets
Worn or damaged rotor arms and contact points undermine spark timing and can cause hard starting, misfires, reduced power and increased fuel use. For classic Porsche engines, maintaining correct ignition timing preserves drivability and reduces stress on ignition and fuel systems. Replacing these service items as part of regular maintenance helps prevent secondary damage and keeps period-correct engines running as intended.
Advantages
- OEMatch catalogues over 4,000 part numbers and over 8,700 OE cross-references and continues to develop new lines to support Porsche vehicles
- Direct-fit alternatives made to original-spec dimensions and tolerances to simplify replacement and maintain correct mounting and clearances
- Selection focused on classic Porsche applications to aid accurate restorations and routine servicing
Support & Advice
These items affect safety-critical systems. Installation should be carried out by a qualified technician following model-specific procedures and torque settings. Use calibrated tools and new fasteners where specified. If you are unsure about hidden sensors, timing procedures or distributor reassembly, seek professional installation.
