Symptoms of Fault
- Water entering near the rear corners of the side windows
- Wind whistle or increased cabin noise at speed
- Cracked, hardened, flattened or torn rubber
- Visible gaps between the glass and roll-bar seal
- Damp trim, carpets or musty cabin odours
- Squeaks or rattles around the Targa roof and door glass
Why Replacement Matters
Age, sunlight, temperature changes and repeated compression can cause the original rubber to shrink or lose flexibility. Renewing both vertical seals can restore a continuous contact surface around the door glass, helping to protect the cabin and surrounding trim from moisture. Window position, roof alignment, latches and drainage paths should also be inspected, as these work together with the seals to provide effective weather protection.
FAQs
- Where are these seals installed?
They slide into the upright aluminium channels on the roll bar, directly behind the door windows. - Does the set cover both sides?
Yes. It contains the corresponding left- and right-hand vertical seals. - Why might a Porsche 914 still leak after fitting new seals?
Check the window adjustment, roof latches, adjoining seals and drainage paths. Correct alignment is necessary for consistent contact. - Is fitting preparation important?
Yes. Clean the retaining channels and surrounding surfaces thoroughly, and avoid stretching the rubber during installation.
