What Does the Coolant Bottle Level Sensor Do?
The coolant level sensor is fitted to the coolant expansion tank, also commonly referred to as the coolant bottle or reservoir.
Its job is to monitor whether the coolant is at the required level. If the level falls below the specified point, the sensor communicates this to the vehicle's electronics so a warning can be displayed to the driver.
A correctly functioning coolant level sensor helps:
- Monitor coolant level within the expansion tank
- Alert the driver when coolant becomes too low
- Provide early warning of coolant loss
- Reduce the risk of driving with insufficient coolant
- Support correct operation of the cooling system warning functions
