The rubber wall insert (also referred to as the “spoiler-rubber wall” or rear deck spoiler barrier) is designed for the rear spoiler assembly on Porsche 911 model generations 996 and 997. This insert sits behind the rear spoiler assembly (on the rear deck/engine-lid area) and creates a flexible barrier between the spoiler structure and the bodywork - helping protect paintwork, reduce turbulence, control debris ingress and maintain factory appearance. Please note you may also require new clips order 2x part number 99959171240.
Fits:
Porsche 996 Carrera 1998 - 2005
Porsche 997.1 Carrera 2005 - 2008
Porsche 997.2 Carrera 2009 - 2012
Diagram ref no 5.
• Position on Vehicle: Rear deck area, behind the spoiler or on the spoiler mounting surface, between the spoiler and body panel.
• Function: Acts as a sealed and resilient joiner between the spoiler and body, reducing noise, preventing water‐ and debris penetration under the spoiler, preserving rear-deck finish and supporting correct aerodynamic/turbulence behaviour.
• Applications: Ideal when the original spoiler rubber insert is missing, degraded, cracked, hardened, or causing wind noise, ingress, or aesthetic deterioration.
Even minor trim components like this rubber wall insert play a significant role in the vehicle’s appearance and function. Worn or missing inserts can lead to:
• Wind noise, ripple or vibration behind the spoiler
• Water or dust intrusion under the spoiler, risking corrosion or paint damage
• Poor fitment or mismatched gap between spoiler and body
• Degraded aerodynamic behaviour or unwanted turbulence

This OE Match Rear Spoiler Wiring Harness is a precision-engineered replacement designed to match original Porsche specifications for fit, routing, and electrical performance. Installed within the rear lid (engine cover), this wiring harness forms a critical part of the vehicle’s electrical system, connecting components such as the rear spoiler mechanism and associated lighting circuits.
This harness is particularly important on vehicles equipped with fixed rear wings or aero kits, where correct electrical routing is required to maintain proper system functionality. It ensures uninterrupted signal transmission and power supply between the vehicle’s body and rear lid components.
This component is commonly used on Porsche 997 models, including Carrera and GT variants, and is often required when replacing or modifying rear spoilers - especially when fitting a fixed rear wing without an integrated third brake light.
A damaged or worn wiring harness can lead to electrical faults, including malfunctioning spoiler systems or warning lights. In some cases, incorrect or missing wiring can prevent proper operation after spoiler modifications.
Replacing the harness ensures reliable electrical connectivity, restores proper function, and prevents issues caused by broken or degraded wiring.
When to replace
• Electrical faults related to rear spoiler or rear lid components
• Visible damaged, frayed, or broken wiring
• After installing or modifying a rear wing or aero kit
• Warning lights related to rear lighting or spoiler system
• During rear lid or electrical system repairs

OEMatch Rear Spoilers / Aerofoil — Fit, Finish, Clarity
Rear spoilers and aerofoils manage airflow to increase rear downforce, reduce lift and improve stability at speed. OEMatch parts for Porsche models are selected to balance aerodynamic function with visual impact, suitable for restoration, styling upgrades and track use while preserving correct fit and surface finish.
Understanding OEMatch Rear Spoilers / Aerofoil
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts are made by the same company that produced your Porsche’s original rear spoilers / aerofoil.
OE (Original Equipment) refers to parts matching original specifications for the rear spoilers / aerofoil and may be supplied by alternative manufacturers. Aftermarket parts offer alternative options, sometimes with enhanced features or better value. OEMatch supplies non-OEM rear spoilers / aerofoil engineered as direct-fit alternatives to OEM parts, made to original-spec dimensions and tolerances for Porsche models. Spoilers affect balance, grip and high-speed behaviour by directing airflow over the rear bodywork. Material choice, profile and mounting condition influence weight, durability and aerodynamic effect.
OEMatch maintains a wide catalogue of Porsche part numbers and cross-references to support repairs across multiple model generations.
Benefits Include
- Improved rear stability and traction for safer high-speed handling
- Reduced aerodynamic lift and more predictable balance through corners
- Design-led styling that complements Porsche lines and period aesthetics
Why Rear Spoilers / Aerofoil Wear and Fail
- Impact damage from debris or collisions can crack or deform surfaces
- UV exposure and environmental ageing causing fading, delamination or surface weakness
- Corrosion and fatigue in metal brackets or deteriorating fixings leading to misalignment
The Importance of Replacing with OEMatch Rear Spoilers / Aerofoil
Replacing a damaged or degraded spoiler restores intended airflow control and helps maintain the vehicle’s aerodynamic balance. Correct fitment and secure mounting reduce vibration and inconsistent behaviour at speed; choosing an appropriate material and finish also affects longevity and appearance for restoration or performance upgrades.
Advantages
- Direct-fit options prepared to original-spec dimensions for consistent mounting
- Material choices including composite and carbon fibre for weight and finish preferences
- Styles from subtle ducktail profiles to performance wings to suit road or track use
Support & Advice
These items affect vehicle behaviour and may require specific procedures, alignment or recalibration. Installation should be carried out by a qualified technician following model-specific guidance. If you fit at home, use correct tools, protect paintwork and recheck fasteners after initial mileage.
