What This Product Does
The horn turns electrical activation into an audible warning. High and low tones are distinct versions, so identify which component needs attention rather than choosing by appearance alone.
Functions
- Provides an audible signal when activated by the driver.
- Replaces the corresponding high- or low-tone fanfare component.
Technical Details
- High-pitched reference: 99163515901.
- Low-pitched reference: 99163516001.
- The 981 Boxster diagram additionally records high-pitched reference 99163514901.
- Adapter cable reference: 99161294700. Please note: you may also require cable adaptor part number 99161294700.
- The 991.2 Carrera diagram specifies a securing element with both tone versions.
Symptoms of Fault
A silent horn, an unusually faint or rough tone, or inconsistent response warrants investigation. Inspect terminal condition and the electrical supply before attributing the problem to the horn itself.
Why Replacement Matters
Renewing a confirmed defective horn addresses a missing or degraded audible warning. Checking the wiring, connections and activation circuit first helps avoid replacing a serviceable component.
