An engine oil level sensor measures the amount of oil in the engine’s oil pan and continuously relays this information to the vehicle’s engine control unit (ECU). By providing real-time data, it helps ensure the engine maintains the proper oil level for effective lubrication. In modern vehicles, this sensor serves as an added layer of protection, helping prevent potential engine damage caused by low oil levels.
Fits:
Porsche Cayenne 4.8L 02/2007 - 09/2010

Symptoms of a Failing Engine Oil Level Sensor
Oil Level Warning Light Illuminated:
The most common sign of a faulty oil level sensor is the oil level warning light appearing on the dashboard. In some cases, the light may turn on even when the oil level is normal, indicating a sensor malfunction rather than an actual oil issue.
Incorrect Oil Level Readings:
A defective sensor can provide inaccurate readings, such as showing the oil level as full when it is actually low, or vice versa. This may result in unnecessary oil top-offs or changes, or worse, leave the engine at risk if the oil level is truly insufficient.

Fits:
Porsche 955 Cayenne 3.2L V6 2004 - 2006
Porsche 957 Cayenne 3.6L V6 2007 - 2010
Porsche 958 Cayenne 3.6L V6 2010 - 2018
Diagram ref no 10
This part is used on selected Porsche Cayenne V6 engine oil sump applications.
What This Part Does / Functions
• Seals the engine oil drain hole in the sump / oil pan
• Allows engine oil to be drained during oil service
• Includes the sealing washer / sealing ring for correct sealing
• Helps prevent oil leaks from the sump drain point
• Provides correct OE Porsche thread and sealing specification
• Replaces a worn, damaged, rounded or leaking sump plug
• Helps maintain correct engine oil retention
• Supports clean and reliable oil service work.
Why Replace This Part?
The sump plug and washer should be inspected during every oil change. The sealing washer can crush or deform after use, and the plug itself can become rounded, damaged, corroded or worn. Reusing a damaged plug or old washer can lead to oil seepage, poor sealing or difficulty removing the plug at the next service. Replacing it with a Genuine Porsche OE sump plug and washer helps ensure the oil drain point seals correctly after servicing.
When to Replace This Part
• During routine engine oil service.
• If the sump plug is rounded, damaged or corroded
• If the sealing washer has already been compressed
• If oil is leaking from the sump drain plug area
• If the drain plug threads are worn or damaged
• When replacing the oil pan / sump
• If the plug has been over-tightened previously
• When servicing the engine with correct Genuine Porsche parts.
Where It Fits on the Car
This sump plug fits in the engine oil sump / oil pan drain point. It is removed to drain the engine oil and then refitted with the sealing washer to close and seal the oil pan.
Correct installation torque should always be followed according to Porsche workshop procedures. Do not overtighten, as this may damage the sump threads or sealing surface.
