Engineered with high-strength steel arms and precision-machined bore geometry, the OE Match version replicates the original Porsche dimensions, spline or tab fits, and durability. It ensures accurate steering response and restores safe, play-free coupling between rack and rod.
• Location: At the end of the tie rod or steering rack linkage, connecting via a ball joint or pivot.
• Function: Holds the tie rod end or joint in place, allowing articulation while securely steering linkage motion.
• Symptoms of Failure: Steering play, looseness, knocking, uneven tire wear
• Benefits: Restores tight steering feel, OE fitment, high strength, and accurate geometry
• Installation: Direct-fit replacement; install with new fasteners and verify alignment
Over time, the original tie rod joint fork may wear at pivot surfaces, stretch, or suffer metal fatigue, leading to steering play, misalignment, or knocking under load. Replace this fork during steering rack or tie rod replacement, when you detect lateral play or looseness, or as part of a full steering system overhaul to restore crisp, safe steering response.

Porsche 964 1989-94 all models
The steering rack controls the front wheels by means of two track rods, terminated by replaceable joints - the "Track Rod Ends", attached to the swivel hubs. These will eventually wear, leading to problems with steering and handling, as well as being a failure point on the UK MOT and presumably on the statutory inspections in other countries.

The track rod transfers steering input from the rack to the front wheels, allowing the wheels to turn accurately and remain correctly aligned. A correctly working track rod helps maintain precise steering feel, stable road holding, and correct front tyre positioning.
Functions
• Replaces the complete front track rod assembly
• Supplied complete with centre bar
• Fits left and right side applications
• Transfers steering movement from the rack to the front wheels
• Helps maintain correct front wheel alignment
• Helps restore steering accuracy and road feel
• Reduces steering play, looseness, and vibration caused by worn components
• OE Match replacement for Porsche 964 steering repair.
Why Replace This Part?
Track rods are exposed to steering load, road impact, vibration, moisture, dirt, and age-related wear. Over time, joints can develop play, threads can seize, and the assembly can become bent, worn, or difficult to adjust. Worn track rods may cause vague steering, knocking, uneven tyre wear, poor alignment, steering vibration, or failed inspection. Replacing worn track rods helps restore accurate steering and safe front axle geometry.
When to Replace This Part
• Steering feels loose, vague, or imprecise
• Front axle knocking or play is present
• Track rod joints are worn, seized, bent, or damaged
• Wheel alignment cannot be adjusted correctly
• Uneven front tyre wear is visible
• Steering vibration or wandering is present
• Front suspension or steering restoration is being carried out
• The vehicle has failed inspection due to steering component wear
Where it fits on the car
This track rod fits on the front steering assembly of Porsche 964 models from 1989 to 1994. It can be used on the left or right side where part number 96434703200 is specified.

This joint fork provides secure connection between the steering rack and the track rod, ensuring proper steering control, precise handling response, and stable geometry under load. It transmits steering input from the rack to the wheels, allowing directional changes to be translated into wheel movement. Built to OEM standards.
Price is for each, (we recommend these should be replaced in pairs).

Porsche 964 TURBO
Diagram Ref No 3.
With wear, the inner joint can develop play, wear down bushings/joints, or even deform - resulting in loose steering feel, vague steering response, front-end instability and uneven tyre wear. A compromised joint reduces the precision and predictability of steering, which is especially problematic on performance-oriented cars like the 964. Replacing the joint fork restores tight steering linkage, improves handling precision, ensures stable geometry, and maintains safe, predictable steering behaviour. This is particularly important if other steering components (rack, tie rods, suspension) have been renewed or if the car is used spiritedly or on track.
When to replace:
Consider replacing if you observe any of the following:
• Excessive steering play or looseness - vague or delayed steering response.
• Clunking, knocking or clicking noises from the front end when turning or driving over bumps.
• Uneven or rapid tyre wear at the front wheels - indicating alignment or steering geometry issues.
• Front-end instability under load (cornering, braking) or poor steering feel.
• Steering linkage overhaul, suspension refresh or restoration work - replacing inner joints is often part of full steering maintenance.
• If current joint is corroded, damaged or visibly worn.
