The rain-water shield is protective panel designed to sit beneath the engine-lid grille on early Porsche 911 (1965-73) and all Porsche 912 (1965-69, 1976) models. Its purpose is to catch and divert rainwater or splashed moisture that enters through the grille, preventing it from reaching the engine compartment - particularly the induction stacks (for models using open velocity stacks) or other sensitive components.
