What this part does
The track rod transfers steering input from the steering rack to the front wheels. The ball joint allows controlled movement while helping maintain correct steering geometry and wheel alignment. A worn track rod can introduce unwanted movement into the steering system, resulting in vague steering, knocking or uneven tyre wear.
Functions
• Replaces the front steering track rod
• Supplied complete with ball joint
• Fits left or right side
• Transfers steering movement to the front wheels
• Helps maintain correct steering geometry
• Supports accurate front wheel alignment
• Helps reduce steering play and looseness
• Helps eliminate knocking caused by worn steering joints
• Suitable for steering and suspension repair
Why Replace This Part?
Track rod ball joints are a common wear point and are subjected to continuous steering movement, road impacts, vibration and contamination.
Signs of wear can include:
• Loose or vague steering
• Knocking or clunking from the front axle
• Excessive movement in the ball joint
• Uneven tyre wear
• Difficulty maintaining wheel alignment
• Reduced steering precision
• Wear identified during servicing or inspection
Replacing a worn track rod helps restore accurate steering and correct front axle geometry.
Where it fits on the car
Fits within the front steering system, between the steering rack and front wheel steering assembly.
