What This Product Does
The bearing provides a supported rotating interface for the steering shaft, helping to maintain its location as steering input is transferred through the linkage. The surrounding bush also provides the correct mounting interface within the assembly.
Functions
- Supports the steering shaft within the steering assembly
- Allows controlled shaft rotation
- Helps maintain the correct position of the steering shaft
- Replaces an aged, worn or damaged bearing and bush
Technical Details
- Part number: 91134702901
- Component type: steering shaft needle-roller bearing with rubber bush
- Installation area: steering gear and lower steering linkage assembly
- Diagram reference: needle-roller bearing
Symptoms of Fault
- Free play or movement around the steering shaft
- Knocking, clicking or clunking while turning the steering wheel
- Rough, notchy or inconsistent steering movement
- Vibration or looseness felt through the steering wheel
- Visible deterioration of the rubber mounting material
These symptoms can also be caused by worn steering joints, rack components, suspension bushes or related mounting hardware. Inspect the complete steering system before selecting replacement parts.
Why Replacement Matters
A worn steering shaft bearing can allow unwanted movement within the linkage and contribute to imprecise steering feel. Renewing the bearing and bush restores the intended support at this point in the assembly. Check adjacent joints, retainers and mounting components during installation so that any additional wear can be identified.
