The OE Match Heavy Duty Rear Spring Plate Bushing Set is a firmer replacement rubber bushing kit for the rear torsion-bar suspension fitted to selected classic Porsche 911, 912 and 930 models.
Includes 4x Heavy Duty rubber softness spring plate bushings (w/ 80-85 shore A)Outer dia: 75mm
Inner dia: 48mm
Thicknes: 42mm
Fits:
- Porsche 911 1968-89
- Porsche 912 1968-69
- Porsche 912 1976
- Porsche 930 1978-79
The kit contains four heavy-duty rubber spring plate bushings, providing the inner and outer bushes required for both rear spring plates, together with fitting instructions.
Rated at approximately 80–85 Shore A, these bushes are considerably firmer than the standard OE Match version, which uses approximately 55–60 Shore A rubber. The higher-durometer construction provides more positive spring plate location and reduced unwanted suspension movement, making the kit particularly suitable for fast-road, performance and more demanding suspension applications.
The rear spring plates connect the torsion bars to the rear suspension and rotate as the wheels move through their suspension travel. Rubber bushes support the spring plates where they pass through the torsion-bar housing and spring plate covers.
As the original rubber ages, it can compress, crack, harden and deform, allowing the spring plates to move away from their intended position. Replacing deteriorated bushes helps restore accurate spring plate support, consistent rear suspension geometry and more predictable handling.
What This Product Does:
The spring plate bushings support and locate the rear spring plates within the torsion-bar housing and spring plate covers.
They are designed to:
- Support the rear spring plates.
- Keep the spring plates correctly centred.
- Allow controlled rotational suspension movement.
- Reduce unwanted lateral and vertical movement.
- Help maintain rear suspension geometry.
- Reduce metal-to-metal contact.
- Improve suspension response.
- Support more consistent handling.
- Replace compressed, cracked or hardened original rubber bushes.
- Provide firmer suspension location than standard-specification rubber.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Possible symptoms include:
- Rear suspension squeaking.
- Creaking over bumps.
- Clunking from the rear suspension.
- Spring plates sitting off-centre.
- Uneven clearance around the spring plate cover.
- Metal-to-metal rubbing.
- Excessive rear suspension movement.
- Rear end feeling loose or imprecise.
- Reduced stability during cornering.
- Changes in rear wheel alignment.
- Uneven tyre wear.
- Suspension movement during acceleration or braking.
- Visible cracks in the rubber.
- Rubber becoming hard or brittle.
- Rubber separating from the spring plate.
- Spring plate cover showing rubbing marks.
Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing deteriorated spring plate bushings helps restore:
- Correct spring plate support.
- Consistent suspension movement.
- Proper rear suspension geometry.
- Reduced unwanted compliance.
- Improved handling precision.
- Reduced suspension noise.
- Proper clearance around the spring plate.
- More predictable rear suspension behaviour.
Choosing the heavy-duty version additionally provides firmer spring plate location for drivers prioritising suspension control and response.
