- Porsche 914 (1970-1976)
The Engine Lid Drip Pan
Mounted beneath the ventilated engine lid, it forms part of the vehicle's rainwater drainage arrangement and helps prevent water passing directly into the engine compartment.
Fits
- Porsche 914-4 1970–76
Diagram ref no 34
What This Product Does
This shaped drip pan collects rainwater entering through the engine lid grille and guides it towards the associated drainage components. It helps protect the engine compartment from direct water ingress while retaining the original layout of the rear lid assembly. Early and late versions are offered, so the correct configuration must be selected for the vehicle.
Functions
- Collects water entering through the engine lid grille
- Directs collected water towards the drainage system
- Reduces direct water entry into the engine compartment
- Supports restoration of the original engine-lid arrangement
- Provides an OE-style replacement for a damaged or missing pan
Technical Details
- Product type: engine lid drip pan or rain tray
- Installation area: beneath the rear engine lid grille
- Application: Porsche 914-4, 1970–76
- Exclusion: not suitable for Porsche 914-6
- Exploded-parts diagram reference: 34
Symptoms of Fault
- Cracks, splits or broken mounting areas in the existing pan
- A missing tray beneath the engine lid grille
- Water entering or collecting within the engine compartment
- Water failing to reach the intended drain points
- Loose or distorted fit beneath the engine lid
- Deteriorated associated funnels, hoses, clamps or grommets
Why Replacement Matters
A cracked, distorted or absent drip pan cannot manage rainwater as intended. Replacing it restores the designed drainage path and limits unnecessary moisture around engine-compartment components. During installation, inspect the surrounding drain funnels, hoses, seals, clamps and fixings, as worn supporting parts may prevent the renewed pan from draining correctly. OE Match components are intended as OE-style replacements, but the vehicle year and tray version should be checked before installation.
FAQs
- What is the purpose of the engine lid drip pan?
It catches rainwater passing through the engine lid grille and channels it towards the engine-compartment drainage system. - Does this drip pan fit the Porsche 914-6?
No. The supplied exploded-parts diagram identifies this component as unsuitable for the 914-6. - How do I choose between the early and late versions?
Compare the existing tray, mounting arrangement and vehicle production year before selecting the appropriate configuration. - What else should be inspected during replacement?
Check the drain funnels, hoses, grommets, clamps and mounting hardware for cracking, blockage, corrosion or deterioration.
