Intermediate Ring
Restore the correct positioning and appearance of the
ignition switch with this OE Match Intermediate Ring. Also known as the ignition switch intermediate ring or
spacer, this small component sits behind the ignition starter rosette and helps
correctly position the ignition switch within the dashboard assembly.

What Does the Intermediate Ring Do?
The intermediate ring fits between components of the ignition switch and its dashboard surround, acting as a spacer and support for the assembly.
A correctly fitted intermediate ring helps:
- Position the ignition switch correctly
- Support the ignition starter rosette
- Maintain correct spacing within the dashboard
- Prevent unwanted movement of the switch assembly
- Provide the correct finished appearance around the ignition switch
Why Do Intermediate Rings Fail?
The intermediate ring has no scheduled service interval, but after more than 50 years the original component may have deteriorated.
Common problems include:
- Cracking with age
- Material becoming brittle
- Heat-related deterioration
- Damage during ignition switch removal
- Distortion or deformation
- Previous incorrect installation
- Missing components during earlier repairs or restoration
A damaged ring can prevent the ignition switch and surrounding rosette from sitting correctly in the dashboard.
When Should the Intermediate Ring Be Replaced?
