Air deflector alternator.
The air deflector serves as an air baffle and provides optimal cooling of the cylinders. Bolts to the back of the alternator.

Porsche 911 - 1975 to 1977
Porsche 911 SC - 1978 to 1983

Mounted on the rear of the alternator or alternator hub, bolting into or adjacent to the fan housing / ventilation shroud.
What it does:
• Guides airflow from the cooling fan over the alternator and engine to maintain proper cooling
• Extends or positions the alternator hub correctly so pulleys are aligned and belt tension is correct
• Helps ensure consistent air circulation in the engine cooling system
Over time, deflectors or hub extensions can become warped, cracked, or corroded, compromising airflow and misaligning pulleys. A damaged deflector may lead to poor alternator cooling, reduced alternator lifespan, or belt misalignment. Replacing restores correct spacing, airflow direction, and ensures reliable alternator performance under all conditions.
